Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for. I have tried lately to make a practice of being more thankful in daily life, but today I was overwhelmed by how much we have to be thankful for. I am thankful for all the amazing people we know. Our family, our friends near and far, and all the amazing ways you all support us. Thank you for the text messages, the emails, the phone calls, the prayers, and the ways financially you support us. We couldn’t do what we do without you! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Before we left I can’t say I was excited about thanksgiving. The thought of being so far away from family and friends during thanksgiving was something I didn’t really want to think of. However, I have to say that today was a really good day. I am thankful for the Turkey that was giving to us by Agape flights. I am thankful that I could find almost everything I needed to make a thanksgiving dinner! I am thankful that we have good fun friends here to spend these days with. I am also thankful for the internet and facetime to be able to keep in contact with our family and friends.

We decided to stay home today and have our first thanksgiving in the Dominican Republic in our home here.  It was a wonderful day. I got up this morning and started cooking like every other thanksgiving morning. But, before I started cooking the girls and I had a dance party to Christmas music to get in the mood. I cooked until around and Randy cleaned and organized the house for company (Thank you Randy!). Around noon  we were able to talk to my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and nephews on facetime. Then I cooked some more and some more.  My friend Janna came over around 5:00 and cleaned my kitchen for me while I finished up the cooking. By 6:30 everyone arrived and we ate a delicious Thanksgiving meal together. We laughed, sang, and talked. Then we finished it off by having going to the see the lights at a local park where we laughed, danced, and sang some more. It was a good day. Oh and did I mention that I didn’t have to clean at all? Janna completely cleaned everything for me!
